When you go on to the ABSS website and sign up to receive a newsletter, fill in an online form or send us an email, we may ask for certain personal information about you and your family. This might include your name, address and ages of children etc. This is to help us provide the right information and care services to you and your family.

  • Contact you for reasons related to your query or submission

  • Provide you with an ABSS newsletter, if signed up to receive one
  • Contact you where you have opted in to receive further information about ABSS services/activities
  • Participate in any surveys to conduct research about your opinions of current services/activities or potential new services/activities that may be offered, if opted in to do so
  • To help operate and improve our website and deliver the services that you have requested

If we would like to use your personal information for any other reason, we will obtain your permission first.

Third Party Service Providers working with and ABSS behalf:

We may pass your information on to our third party service providers and partner organisations for the purposes of providing you and your family the appropriate information and care services.  We disclose only the minimum information required to deliver those services and have a contract in place to ensure that your information is kept secure, and it is only used to deliver the services provided. Our partners agencies include; Southend Borough Council, Pre-School Learning Alliance (A Better Start), Southend Children Centres (Family Action), Children Services, Community Groups, ABSS Researchers, the NHS and health providers including GPs.

What is the legal basis for processing your information?

Children Act 1989 and 2004: to safeguard and promote the welfare of children within their area who are in need.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Article 6(1)e: Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest  or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Article 9(2)b: Processing is necessary for the purposes of carrying out obligations and excising specific rights of the controller or of the data subject in the field of employment and social security and social protection law in so far as is authorised by union or member state law or a collective agreement pursuant to member state law providing for appropriate safeguards for the fundamental rights and the interests of the data subject.

Your rights and your personal information?

  • The right, where there is dispute in relation to the accuracy or processing of your personal information, to request a restriction is placed on further processing.
  • The right to object to the processing of personal information (where applicable)
