We’re excited to launch ‘Big Little Moments’, a year-long communications campaign to showcase simple behaviours that can make a big difference to a child’s development.

The theory behind the campaign builds on the Frameworks Institute’s Core Story of Early Childhood Development research; a set of important scientific insights into early brain and biological development. The insights have been distilled and translated into themes and metaphors that make the concepts more accessible to the public. This will be the first time the research has been used in this way in the UK.

Run through The National Lottery Community Fund, the campaign is also taking place in the other Better Start sites of Blackpool, Bradford, Lambeth as well as Nottingham and has been localised for each Better Start site. With the help of a friendly cast of characters, it showcases 15 important behaviours that make a huge difference to a child’s development and has the objective of increasing the number and frequency of effective care giving interactions. These behaviours are simple, achievable ways for caregivers to interact with children during everyday situations to promote children’s social, emotional and language development.

So keep your eyes open on social media and around Southend for the different behaviours and share them to help make a big difference for Southend’s next generation.
