Since last summer the day-to-day running of A Better Start Southend has been in the hands of an interim team led by Programme Director Alison Clare reporting to a Partnership Board made up of organisations from across Southend. With the programme well established and work to bring the local community into the heart of the programme starting to bear fruit, the interim team is beginning to move on. Alison Clare and Gary May, who have been interim Programme Director and Programme Manager since last July are leaving A Better Start this month. The process to appoint their permanent successors is underway – watch this space for news! In the meantime the day-to-day operation of the programme will be led by Michael Freeston from Pre-school Learning Alliance, working with the Chair of the Partnership Board, Neil Leitch.

Alison Clare comments: “I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved as a community working together over the last few months. The enthusiasm for A Better Start from everyone in Southend is brilliant. I know that you are all poised to achieve some extraordinary things!”
