Crèche services

The A Better Start Southend Crèche Team provide childcare support for your children whilst attending projects, workshops and meetings.

We aim to offer the best possible service by reflecting A Better Start’s key outcomes of;

  • Diet and Nutrition: We offer healthy snacks and encouraging children to be mobile, explaining why exercise is good for us. Talking about things like where food comes from, why our bodies need food and which foods are best for giving us energy and helping us grow.
  • Communication and language: The team take time to listen to your children, ask them questions and allow appropriate time for the children to answer and extend their vocabulary. The crèche workers undertake training to be able to replicate approaches suggested by the Communication and Language team and help reinforce those messages with families.
  • Social and Emotional Development: We support (for example) the Work Skills project for this including undertaking risk assessments for venues used for site visits as varied as Toby Carvery and Lloyds Bank – not normally used for childcare! For new projects, the staff undertake training so they can use the same strategies as recommended to parents and carers attending the workshops/sessions.

All the crèche staff have enhanced DBS checks, have a minimum level 3 qualification in early years and childcare, First Aid and Safeguarding training. There is a comprehensive training plan to keep their knowledge relevant and up to date. We hope this reassures you that we are offering the best care possible for your children.
