We have exciting news that the new allotment at Friars Children’s Centre is now complete following careful planning, ready for our Food 4 Life project.

Weekly sessions for the project, being run by our partners Family Action, are taking place every Friday from 3 May – 26 July, 1-2pm at the allotment. The project welcomes families with children under 4 within A Better Start Southend wards to come along and make the most of the new green space.

As well as learning more about how to grow fruit and vegetables, the free, fun 12-week programme will also give families the opportunity to try the food they have grown, and there is even an area for composting food and garden waste!

To find out more information about the 12-week course (happening during term-time only) call 01702 220810 (select option 2).

Trust Links are running Family Garden Fun mornings at Growing Together Shoeburyness, just behind Friars Children’s Centre, every Monday from 29 July to 19 August 10 am – 12 noon. This is funded by BBC Children in Need.

This sounds like an excellent initiative Matt. We hope it goes well! We will pass on information to the Children’s Centre team to explore opportunities for connecting the initiatives.
