A Better Start Southend

Having delivered an amazing 53 programmes reaching 360 children and 270 parents, as well as a wide range of family workshops, A Better Start Southend’s HENRY Healthy Families service – delivered by HENRY – will be finishing at the end of August.

The HENRY programmes that are currently running in Southend will be the last ones, and the @HENRY Southend Facebook page will be closing at the end of August.

You are welcome to follow both the A Better Start Southend social media to keep up to date with the programme and the work that we are doing. You may also want to follow the HENRY National Facebook page, which you can find here.

There are lots of other workshops in the Southend community run by Southend’s Family Centres which can support you further with living a healthy lifestyle. Take a look at these below:

  • Starting Solids: free 2 hour helping you to understand when and how to introduce solid foods to your baby
  • Little Potters Gardening club: free gardening programme at Friar’s Allotment – to grow fruits and vegetables that you will cook in the last session
  • Cooking sessions: Free 1 hour session for you and your child to socialise and explore cooking, food and tastes.
  • A Better Start Southend’s 3-4 month health visitor contact: arrange an extra visit with your health visitor to learn more about introducing solid foods to your baby

You can also find some helpful resources for infant feeding, starting solids with your little one, and hygiene from a variety of ABSS partners/verified sources here:
