Parents got involved in making Southend just a bit more beautiful in July as they took on a volunteering beach clean. The parents, who had just completed their volunteering training with SAVS over the course of three weekly sessions, had health and safety training, borrowed safety equipment from Southend Beach Care and got active in improving the environment for all.

Being a volunteer can involve a wide range of tasks, and following the course one of the parents is volunteering to read to children at the Forum.

Volunteering is an important part of building up parents’ confidence and becoming engaged in improving their local community. This helps promote improved parent involvement in co-production and service design for A Better Start Southend projects.
