Everyone knows that it’s good to exercise but sometimes it’s hard to find the time or motivation needed to get you and your family active.

But exercise doesn’t have to be a chore it can be fun! This week, families had a boogie and a wiggle at a new free family-friendly dance session, delivered through A Better Start Southend.

Active Families for parents/carers and their children from 1 to 3 years, will run every Monday between 1.30pm and 2.30pm at Centre Place Family Centre until 17 October.

Mum Ani brought along her three year old son Vincent, she said: “I enjoy dancing, aerobics and Zumba so thought I’d give this a try. It’s good for my son’s development. The music makes him happy and the exercise is good for his body.”

Mandy and 16 month old daughter Amberley also joined in the fun: “I did something similar with my son when he was young and now he’s in school so it’s nice for me to have time just with Amberley.”

Active Life deliver these sessions as well as Buggy Active, a gentle exercise session for parents/carers with babies along the seafront on a Tuesday morning, and Activise, for pregnant women.
