In the summer of 2019, A Better Start Southend’s Resilience, Ideas and Innovation Fund (RIIF) was launched, and asked for two or more Southend-based organisations (per application) to come together and develop new ways of delivering the best results for Southend’s children. With a total fund of £60,000 per annum, and awards for proposals up to £10,000 per annum over three years, the fund offers a fantastic opportunity for partnership working in order to solve some of the challenges that children and families face within the borough.

We are delighted to announce that, after a round of panel interviews, two new partnerships have been awarded funding, and their exciting new projects have begun their journey towards our key development outcomes (Social and Emotional, Diet and Nutrition and Communication and Language). These two new projects are:

The innovative new projects are still in the early stages of mobilisation, and we are excited to see these take shape. Southend organisations interested in applying to the fund are highly encouraged to work in partnership in submitting a proposal to the next round of RIIF Funding happening later in 2020, where an expert panel will again review each one in line with the RIIF guidelines. More information about this will be available when the RIIF opens once again.
