From 31st March 2025, ABSS funding of Cake Club’s Nappy and Slings Support service will end, due to the end of the ABSS grant. Sling support will continue to be offered at all Cake Club sessions. Cloth nappy support will continue through a closed Facebook Group for previous workshop attendees.

Parents are supported to access these free workshops, aimed at guiding families in the use of cloth nappies and baby carriers/slings for their own children.
Resources such as cloth nappies have far-reaching environmental benefits (when compared to disposable nappies) and in the long-term, can be a much cheaper option.
The cloth nappy workshops look at the different types of cloth nappies available, how to fit them to the child and how to wash them. There’s ongoing support with workshop materials available as well as the opportunity to join an interactive group to support parents with their cloth nappy journey.
The sling workshops are designed to help parents learn everything there is to know about carrying baby in a wrap, sling or baby carrier, covering all aspects of newborn babywearing – why, how, when, safety, comfort, positioning and more.
These workshops are suitable for all new and expectant parents, focusing on options for newborns and beyond. Attendees will be able to take away a sling from the session or reserve one to collect towards the end of pregnancy. All workshops are delivered by trained and experienced practitioners.
Parenting-on-Sea, working in partnership with Cake Club, currently promote and run the cloth nappy and carrying workshops. Final workshops are expected to run up to the end of March 2025. Parents will receive updates at the point of signing up, about when the workshops will start and end, and what support would be available to them from Parenting on Sea and/or Cake Club, beyond this.
