Social and Communication Peer Support Workers
The Early Years Alliance and A Better Start Southend offer a service of focused support to families with children with social and communication needs in the City of Southend.
Is this for you?
- Are you a parent of a child who is aged between 0-3 years (up to their 4th birthday)?
- Are you concerned about your child’s development in at least 2 of these areas:
Communication – Interaction – Play
- Has your child been referred for further assessment regarding their development?
- Would you like someone to help guide you through this journey to offer support and information?
What the service offers:
- Information and support to access local services and activities in the local area
- Opportunities to attend workshops on topics such as sensory behaviours and sleep issues
- Exclusive access to term time and holiday activities
- Home and community visits, telephone and email contact
- Advice and support to apply for certain grants and benefits
Our small team of Peer Support Workers come with personal experience of parenting children with social and communication needs in the local area. Their experience as parents alongside their professional training will enable them to support you and your family.
